MOSCOW, March 18 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. The Moscow Commercial Court has accepted the Deposit Insurance Agency's lawsuit seeking to invalidate the AMT Bank's repayment of a 1.114 billion ruble ($35.8 million) loan from the Bank of Russia before its license was revoked, the court told RAPSI on Monday.
The agency was appointed as the AMT Bank's receiver after the bank was declared bankrupt in June. The lawsuit was filed against the AMT Bank, while the Central Bank has been named a third party in the case.
The Central Bank revoked the AMT Bank's license in July 2011 for providing false data in a report.
The bank had accumulated 15 billion rubles ($488.3 million at the current exchange rate) in private deposits. According to the agency, the bank has returned over 12 billion rubles ($390.6 million) to former clients, which is the largest amount the agency has retrieved from a bank.
Yuri Isayev, the agency's director, said in an earlier meeting with Sergei Kazakov, a member of the AMT Bank creditors' committee, that the agency was discussing a lawsuit against the Central Bank with its lawyers, PRIME reported. A final decision was to be taken before March 4.
The Moscow Commercial Court appointed the Deposit Insurance Agency as the AMT Bank's bankruptcy receiver for one year. In October, the agency, which had initially filed for AMT's bankruptcy, was appointed the bank's liquidation agent.
The AMT Bank, previously known as BTA Bank, is a universal financial institution with a regional network of nine branch offices, 22 additional offices and four operations offices, according to the Central Bank.
