BELGRADE, July 23 (RAPSI) - Serbian businessman, the owner of Delta Holding and the wealthiest man in the country Miroslav Miskovic, who has been in custody since December 2012, will be released on 12 million euro bail, the press service of the Supreme Court of Belgrade said on Tuesday.
This is the record sum, ever requested by Serbian justice. The previous record bail has been set for Zvezdan Terzic, the former president of Serbian Football Association, charged with embezzlement. He had to pay 1 million euro.
Miskovic, 68, with a wealth estimated at approximately 1 billion euro, is expected to leave prison on Tuesday. According to the official statement of Delta Holding, 12 million euros were transferred to the court's account on Monday.
In May, Serbian prosecutor's office charged Miskovic, his son and nine other people with privatization fraud. According to the prosecutors, misappropriation of funding resources and property of highway companies over the 2005 to 2010 period caused damage to the companies estimated at 150 million euros. Damage caused to the state is estimated at 4,2 million euros.
