MOSCOW, August 14 (RAPSI) - A Moscow lawyer Dmitry Vinogradov, who shot six people in his office dead last November, has pleaded guilty in court, RAPSI reported from the courtroom on Wednesday.
Vinogradov, 29, went into the office of the pharmaceutical company he worked for on the morning of November 7 and shot at his colleagues, killing three men and two women and wounding a fourth man, who later died in hospital.
He has been dubbed the Russian Breivik. Before the shooting, he posted a manifesto on his social network page, detailing his disgust with society and comparing humanity to cancer. He said that both humanity and cancer destroy everything in their path.
Vinogradov wrote that humankind has defied the laws of nature in its relentless quest for eternal life and this has been a slap in the face of natural selection. Thus, not only have we lost sight of genetic weakness, but we have even encouraged its perpetuation under the guises of "humanity" and "tolerance," he wrote.
The psychological and linguistic assessments of the text stated that it contained appeals for a mass extermination of humanity and justifications for this, the Prosecutor's Office's press release read.
Forensic experts confirmed his sanity during the probe, despite his unbalanced state during the shooting spree. Vinogradov was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code, including murder. He may face life imprisonment if convicted.
