MOSCOW, November 26 (RAPSI) - The Moscow Commercial Court postponed the hearing of a lawsuit filed by Russian Railways against Apple Inc., demanding a 2 million ruble compensation for copyright infringement, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.
Russian Railways told the court that the lawsuit was filed after Apple Inc. violated the railway monopoly's copyright, by adding the company's logo to App Store. Apple, in turn, said that the company couldn't be held responsible, as the agreement between Apple and app designers states that the contracted developers are obligated to secure third parties' copyright clauses.
The first version of the program in the App Store contained the Russian Railways logo. After the lawsuit was filed, Apple deleted the program from the store, giving the developers time to correct the logo. The program then resurfaced in App store, without the contested logo. The app itself calculates cost of transporting goods with the Russian Railways, and is being sold for 199 rubles.
