MOSCOW, December 9 (RAPSI) - The Intellectual Property Court has postponed the hearing of a lawsuit by Krasnoyarsk-based spice and dressing producer Delta Pro against Valio Ltd (Finland) until January 15. Delta Pro has requested that Valio Ltd be deprived of the right to its Valio Demi trademark, a court representative told RAPSI Monday.
The lawsuit was filed on July 23. The Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks is a third party in the case.
Delta Pro produces spices, dressings and jelly under the Pyat Povarov and Demi brands, using raw products supplied from Poland, China and India.
Valio Ltd is a leading Finnish company for dairy products. It processes around 79% of Finnish milk and belongs to 22 cooperatives owned by 11,100 farmers. The company produces some 800 products, 500 of which are exported to over 40 countries.
Viola processed cheese slices, Oltermanni semi-hard cheese, Valio butter and yoghurts are the main Valio products imported into Russia. The company has subsidiaries in Russia, Belgium, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the United States.
The Intellectual Property Court recently established within the Russian system of commercial courts began hearing cases on July 3, 2013.
