MOSCOW, 30 May (RAPSI) – The number of Russians turning to London’s commercial court has grown four times in the past five years, according to the research, carried out by Portland consulting company.
According to Portland, 30 litigants that participated in Commercial Court proceedings in 2013 were from Russia. The first place is currently held by the U.S. with 42 litigants, Kazakhstan in the third with 25 litigants and Bahrain with UAE in tow with the top 10.
British citizens made up only 23% of litigants, dropping from 45% in five years.
Litigants from more than 65 countries around the globe brought their rows to London last year, leading with Eurasian states followed by Middle East and Northern Africa. Portland attributes the spike in numbers to the strengthening of London’s position as the global legal hub.
