MOSCOW, July 17 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Commercial Court has ruled that a major Austrian construction company, Strabag, is to repay about 190 million rubles ($5.5 million) to Russian insurers Ingosstrakh, AIG Insurance and Reinsurance Company and ACE, reads a document posted in the court’s database.
In August 2011, Strabag filed a lawsuit to collect 967 million rubles ($28 million) from the three insurers for the insured accident that occurred in September 2009, when the underground car park of the Vivaldi Plaza office and hotel building in Kozhevnicheskaya Street, near the Paveletsky Railway Station in central Moscow, collapsed.
Strabag built the underground parking garage, which was insured by Ingosstrakh (25%), AIG (30%) and ACE (45%).
Strabag was established in Austria in 1835 and has been operating in Russia under the Ilbau brand since 1991. Its main Russian branch, ZAO Strabag, was established in 1999. Strabag also registered a representative office in Moscow in 2001. Strabag’s revenues in 2013 reached EUR 12.5 billion.
