SERPUKHOV, September 2 (RAPSI) - A court in the city of Serpukhov has ruled Tuesday to shut the doors of another McDonald’s restaurant in the Moscow Region for 90 days over sanitation violations, RAPSI correspondent reports from the courtroom.
The representative of McDonald's said in court that all the violations revealed during sanitary inspection have been fixed. He added that an independent expert review did not find any violations.
McDonald’s vows to appeal the court ruling.
Last month, inspections of McDonald’s restaurants began across Russia, where the fast-food chain has over 430 restaurants in 75 regions.
According to the company’s press service, a number of restaurants have been suspended over sanitary violations, including restaurants in Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, the former Olympic host city of Sochi, and the list keeps growing.
Russia's food safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor claims that the area of the restaurants is limited, some meals do not meet hygienic standards.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said that there were no plans for an inspection of the whole chain in Russia.
Anna Popova, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, brushed off accusations that the inspections were politically motivated.
