MOSCOW, February 11 (RAPSI, Vladimir Yaduta) – The Amsterdam District Court ruled on Wednesday in favor of Yukos International UK BV, a company affiliated with former shareholders of now-defunct company Yukos, in the case brought against Russian state-owned oil producer Rosneft and its affiliate Promneftstroy.
The final award will now be calculated by the court, and it will take time, Barbara Rumora-Scheltema, partner of NautaDutilh law firm, who acted for Yukos International UK BV, told RAPSI.
The judgment of the court is robust, according to Ms. Rumora-Scheltema.
Spokespersons for Rosneft and Promneftstroy were unavailable for comment on the matter.
It was earlier reported that the compensation for losses sought by Yukos International UK BV may exceed $330 million.
The company claims that it suffered losses from a freeze of its bank account, following a ruling passed by the Amsterdam court in 2008 over the bankruptcy of Yukos. The suit was brought against Rosneft which obtained the key assets of Yukos during its liquidation.
