MOSCOW, August 19 (RAPSI) - The daughter of murdered politician Boris Nemtsov, Zhanna, has filed a complaint over the court’s to interview Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, and several other high-ranking officials from the republic, Nemtsova’s attorney Vadim Prokhorov told RAPSI on Wednesday.
Prokhorov said that earlier a similar complaint was sent to investigators who refused to consider it. The authorities decided to interview only Ruslan Geremeyev, a former officer in the Chechen Interior Ministry’s Sever battalion, but they could not find him. “Therefore, we filed a motion with the court to interview not only Kadyrov but Geremeyev’s relatives, Alibek Delimkhanov, Adam Delimkhanov and Suleiman Geremeyev.”
Prokhorov noted that investigators are seeking Geremeyev for questioning, but that he is not on the wanted list. The lawyer said a date to hear the complaint has not been set.
Last April, Kadyrov announced that he was ready to testify in the Nemtsov murder case if it helps the investigation. He said he would be curious to hear what questions Nemtsova’s lawyer has for him. Earlier, the head of Chechnya said he believes Nemtsov’s murder was plotted by Western security services.
Nemtsov was murdered in central Moscow on the night of February 28. In the 1990s, the politician held a number of high-ranking posts in the Russian Government. In the 2000s, he joined the opposition.
Five suspects were detained in the case, including the alleged murdered Zaur Dadayev, brothers Anzor and Shadid Gubashev, and Khamzat Bakhayev who, according to investigators, provided his accomplices with information and then hid them after the murder. The fifth suspect, Temerlan Eskerkhanov is said to have monitored Nemtsov’s whereabouts. Investigators have not revealed the suspected role of the Gubashev brothers in the crime.
