MOSCOW, August 31 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Commercial Court has dismissed a suit which had been filed by Sony Music Entertainment (Russia) seeking 1.5 million rubles ($22,560) from the Russian State Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) in compensation for the use of audio records.
In August, the court ruled in favor of Sony Music Entertainment (Russia) to collect 500,000 rubles ($7,520) from Pyatnitsa, a national broadcast entertainment channel, in compensation for violating related rights for the audio recording of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Britney Spears.
The court also prohibited Pyatnitsa from using that recording for the soundtrack of its travel show “Oryol i Reshka: Shanghai” or on its website.
Sony Music has filed lawsuits against three Russian television networks for a total of 2.5 million rubles ($37,610). One suit, against Channel One, will be heard on September 16.
