MOSCOW, September 23 (RAPSI) - Vyacheslav Gaizer, the head of Russia’s Komi Republic who stands charged with fraud and organized crime related violations, has filed an appeal against his detention, Press Secretary of the Bassmanny District Court of Moscow told RAPSI on Wednesday.
Last Saturday, the Investigative Committee announced that it had uncovered a criminal group led by Gaizer. The Bassmany District Court issued arrest warrants for three defendants in the case: Gaizer, his deputy Alexei Chernov and Konstantin Romadanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Republican government. All three deny the charges.
As reported, several high-ranking officials as well as business people – called “finance technologists” by the Investigative Committee – were arrested in the fraud and organized crime case. The detainees include Anton Fayershtein, the CEO of Komzhilstroy, a construction company. Only one suspect, Yury Bondarenko, was placed under house arrest.
Investigators intend to put another suspect, Alexander Zarubin, on the international wanted list.
