MOSCOW, October 16 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) - The relatives of the teacher Andrei Kirillov who was shot by a Moscow school student in February 2014, have filed a lawsuit with the Basmanny District Court seeking 11 million rubles (about $177,000) in compensation from the teenager’s parents, lawyer Lyudmila Aivar told RAPSI on Friday.
According to Aivar, Kirillov’s widow and mother demand compensation for loss of the breadwinner and for moral damage.
The incident took place on February 3, 2014, when Moscow student Sergey Gordeev brought a rifle and a carbine to school. He killed a police officer and a teacher, injured one more person and took hostages.
The Investigative Committee found that the student fired at least 11 times from the small caliber rifle before he was arrested.
The teenager partially admitted his guilt. The psychiatric evaluation showed that he is mentally fit. In summer, the Moscow City Court confirmed the original court’s ruling that the student undergo compulsory medical treatment.
