MOSCOW, October 20 (RAPSI) – Alfa Bank, one of Russia's largest private banks, has filed a bankruptcy petition against Transaero airline, following a number of other creditors, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.
Russian Regional Development Bank controlled by Rosneft filed earlier two lawsuits against Transaero seeking a total of over 810 million rubles ($13.2 million).
RN-Aero, Rosneft subsidiary, filed a suit seeking 3.4 billion rubles ($55.4 million) from Transaero. The hearing is set for November 10.
There are lawsuits which were also filed by Russian state airline Aeroflot seeking 5 billion rubles ($81.5 million) in debt along with companies affiliated with the largest Russian airports.
Finally, on October 19 Sberbank filed a bankruptcy petition against Transaero with the Commercial Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
Transaero found itself unable to pay its debts estimating 250 bln rubles ($4 bln). Government-approved plan of transferring 75% of company’s shares to Aeroflot failed. Its problems result in a large number of flight cancels and delays.
