MOSCOW, November 20 (RAPSI) – Eduard Sherbina, a Russian citizen who is accused of embezzling 310 million rubles ($4.7 mln), will be extradited from Austria to Russia, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.
Sherbina is accused of fraud and of attempted fraud on a large scale committed by an organized group. According to the investigators, between September 2010 and August 2011 Sherbina and his accomplices embezzled more than 310 million rubles from the federal budget by providing false information to the tax authorities. The criminal group was going to steal another 57 million rubles as well.
Sherbina fled from prosecution and was put on the federal and international wanted lists in 2011. In June 2015 he was arrested in Austria. Prosecutor General's Office in July 2015 submitted a petition to the competent authorities in Austria for his extradition to Russia, petition that was granted in November.
