MOSCOW, December 15 (RAPSI) – Olga Lopatina, the ex-wife of Deputy Prosecutor General Gennady Lopatin, has filed with Moscow’s Lyublinsky District Court a defamation lawsuit against opposition politician Alexei Navalny in connection with the article about the family of Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Lopatina’s lawyer Mikhail Gavryushin told RAPSI on Tuesday.
Lopatina seek to declare statements about her non-complying with the law and to prohibit dissemination of the information. She also demands compensation for moral harm from Navalny, his associate Georgy Alburov, the Anti-Corruption Fund led by Navalny, the fund’s lawyer Lyubov Sobol, Google Inc.
Earlier, Navalny’s fund released a publication that accused Chaika’s sons, Artyom and Igor, of exploitation of their father’s contacts in their own interests. The authors of the article also accused several highest-ranked executives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of illegal assistance to the brothers’ business.
Chaika said that the disseminated information is misleading and baseless. According to Prosecutor General, the article was written by order of chief executive of Hermitage Capital Management William Browder and intelligence agencies standing up for him.
