MOSCOW, April 29 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of Russia has ruled that demolition of “Pyramid” trade center along with other similar centers in Moscow on the night of February 9 was legal, RAPSI learned in the courtroom on Friday.
The court dismissed appeals of several trade centers against the metropolitan government decree on “demolition of unauthorized buildings in some areas of Moscow”.
Businessmen behind lawsuits claimed that they had all the necessary documents confirming their property rights for the demolished buildings as well as all building permits. They argued that disputes over buildings’ status should have been solved in the courtroom instead of use of administrative actions.
In December 2015 the Moscow government issued a decree on demolition of unauthorized buildings and filed a list of 104 buildings for deconstruction. 97 of these objects were demolished on February 9.
