MOSCOW, June 27 (RAPSI) – A Russian entrepreneur Alexei Zaitsev has appealed the Kaliningrad Commercial Court’s ruling that, on request of U.S. firm Saucony, Inc., prohibited to use trademarks in in the domain name “saucony.ru” and recovery of 300,000 rubles ($4,615), the court materials read.

On May 16 the lawsuit filed by the U.S. company was granted by the Kaliningrad Commercial Court. Saucony, Inc. is the owner of the “Saucony” trademark, which is officially recognized and protected by Russian legislation.

Saucony Inc. notified the court that Russian national Alexei Zaitsev is an administrator of the “saucony.ru” domain name that was registered in 2003. The company notified the court because of similarities between its trademark name and the name of domain.
