MOSCOW, August 3 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Commercial Court has ordered Russian firm “RostovGlavTabakProm” to pay one million rubles ($15,000) in compensation to Philip Morris Brand Sàrl (Switzerland) for illegal use of its trademark in the production and sale of cigarettes, according to court records.
The court also ruled that “RostovGlavTabakProm” must stop production and sale of cigarettes named “RT”.
The Swiss company in its lawsuit asked to collect 5 million rubles ($75,000) from the Russian firm. The court thus granted the claim in part.
Philip Morris is one of the world’s largest cigarette and tobacco companies headquartered in Lausanne (Switzerland). Philip Morris is the owner of such cigarette brands as Marlboro, L&M, Chesterfield, Bond Street, Virginia Slims.
