MOSCOW, September 14 (RAPSI, Oleg Sivozhelezov) – The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld the life sentence for Siraghudin Guchuchaliev who has been found guilty of several crimes, including the murder of judge Magomed Magomedov, RAPSI learned in the court on Wednesday.
Guchuchaliev was a leader of organized criminal group “Shamilkalinskiy sector”. During the hearings at the Supreme Court he asked to dismiss the Stavropol Supreme Court’s ruling as unjust and transfer the case to the Supreme Court of Dagestan for another review.
The Supreme Court of Russia has softened sentences for some of the lesser crimes in the case, but has upheld life sentence for the grave ones.
Magomedov, who was on the Presidium of Dagestan's Supreme Court, presided over cases which involved members of illegal armed groups in the North Caucasus republic.
