MOSCOW, November 24 (RAPSI) – Insolvent Transaero airline, once Russia's second-biggest carrier, has filed a 380 million ruble ($5.8 mln) lawsuit against Tez Tour Ltd. with the Moscow Commercial Court, according to court records revealed Thursday.
Transaero lost its licence on October 26. A number of creditors filed bankruptcy petitions against the carrier, Sberbank and Alfa Bank among them.
Sberbank, VTB and VEB are considered to be top lenders to Transaero whose total debt exceeds 250 billion roubles (about $4 billion).
Government-approved plan of transferring 75% of the company’s shares to Aeroflot failed.
Problems of Transaero resulted in a large number of flight cancels and delays.
On November 17, Transaero air carrier filed an application with the Commercial Court of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region seeking to drop bankruptcy proceedings against it.
In November, Transaero managers submitted the company’s business resumption plan. The airline’s management headed by Director General Alexander Burdin analyzed alternatives which could make it possible to return money to creditors through the airline’s resumption based on its assets, the document reads.
The Commercial Court of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region initiate a bankruptcy procedure against Transaero on December 16.
Tez Tour was founded in 1994. Nowadays it is one of the leading tour operators in Russia.
