MOSCOW, December 6 (RAPSI) – The Russian Intellectual Property Court (IP Court) has postponed until January hearings of claims filed by Russian businessman Nikolai Fetter over English Premier League brands, according to court records.
Fetter is seeking early termination of legal protection of two trademarks in Russia, including English Premier League logo that features a lion wearing a crown, resting a paw on a ball.
The court joined the Federal Service for Intellectual Property as a third party in this case.
The Football Association Premier League Ltd. is the official operator of English professional football league. It is responsible for organization and promotion of football matches and manages game broadcasts. The organization owns official logo of the League, which was created in 1992. However, new official logo for the tournament will be used in 2016/2017 season.
