MOSCOW, February 27 (RAPSI) – Former kindergarten teacher Yevgeniya Chudnovets convicted of child pornography distribution by repost on social media has filed an appeal with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Kommersant newspaper reported Monday.
Chudnovets in the application complains that her rights to a fair trial and freedom of expression have been violated, the newspaper wrote citing lawyer Damir Gainutdinov.
Reportedly, the woman regularly published videos on her social networking pages to draw public attention to problems in Yekaterinburg and violation of rights of local citizens.
In November 2016, Chudnovets, ex-teacher in a Yekaterinburg kindergarten, was sentenced to 6 months in prison for distribution of child pornography. Later, her prison term was reduced to 5 months. She made repost of video showing humiliation of a boy in children's camp to attract public attention to the problem, according to Gainutdinov.
Prosecutor demanded a 5-year prison sentence for Chudnovets.
