MOSCOW, March 16 (RAPSI) - Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko affirmed a decision of the National Security and Defense and imposed sanctions on five Russian banks, the official website of the President of Ukraine announced on Thursday.
Sanctions aimed to “prevent disinvestment” were introduced against Sberbank, VS Bank, Prominvestbank, VTB Bank and BM Bank for a year.
Restrictive measures include a ban on withdrawing funds from Ukraine, dividend payout, interest, return of debts and interbank deposits, monetary funds from correspondent accounts of subordinated loan. The prohibition also extends to division of profits and capital of the above-mentioned banks, according to the statement.
The government and National Bank of Ukraine are ordered to implement and control the efficiency of sanctions.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry is authorized to “inform competent authorities of the European Union, the United States of America and other states about imposing sanctions and take up the matter of introducing similar restrictive measures against the respective companies by them.”
The order takes effect on the date of its publication.
