MOSCOW, March 20 (RAPSI) – The Commercial Court of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region has postponed to hear a lawsuit filed by the City Construction Committee against the former Zenit Arena stadium construction contractor Transstroy SPb till April 17, RIA Novosti reports on Monday.
The Committee seeks its 9 billion rubles ($156 million) contract for completion of the sports facility to be declared terminated.
The plaintiff petitioned the court to hear the matter behind closed doors referring to the necessity to keep state and commercial secrets in confidence.
Last July the Committee terminated the Zenit Arena construction contracts made earlier with Transstroy Corporation, Engineering Corporation Transstroy and Engineering Corporation Transstroy SPb.
The construction of a new stadium for football club Zenit was started yet in 2007; however, later the project had to be redesigned to suit FIFA requirements as it was to become a venue of the 2018 World Cup. For these works the St. Petersburg City Construction Committee has contracted Metrostroy, the additional cost estimated to be at about 2.9 billion rubles ($50 million).
