MOSCOW, March 23 (RAPSI) – The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of the city of Yekaterinburg is to announce its sentence in a criminal case against police officers, who are charged with beating detainees, on March 27, RIA Novosti reports on Thursday.
The criminal case was launched against five police officers of the Sverdlovsk Region, who allegedly had used violence against detainees trying to extort confessions from their victims. According to investigators, the officers of the Zarechny police precinct were beating, strangling, and using other similar methods against detainees.
Earlier, it had been reported that all judges of the Beloyarsky District Court of the Sverdlovsk Region have abstained from this case prompting its transfer to another court.
