MOSCOW, March 28 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a 2.5-year prison sentence given to blogger Alexey Kungurov for online publication concerning military operation in Syria, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

A criminal case was opened against Kungurov in the spring of 2016 over his post on the Internet. The blogger has written in his publication that air strikes made by Russian army in Syria are ineffective.

Kungurov has been found guilty of justifying terrorism. He is to serve his sentence in a penal colony settlement.
