MOSCOW, April 10 (RAPSI, Oleg Sivozhelezov) – Moscow’s Nikulinsky District Court has sentenced lawyer Dionisy Zolotov to 6.5 years in prison for embezzling over 150 million rubles ($2.6 million), the court’s spokesperson told RAPSI on Monday.
Additionally, Zolotov, 39, was fined 14.2 million rubles ($249,500).
According to investigators, between March and June 2014, the man received more than 150 million rubles from an individual who asked for assistance in termination of a criminal case against him.
Zolotov has pleaded guilty.
Earlier, Zolotov has been convicted in a similar case. He headed a law firm and assisted businessmen in “solving problems” with law enforcement officers. In October 2015, the Moscow City Court found Zolotov guilty of attempt at fraud, giving a bribe, knowingly false denouncement and sentenced him to 6 years in prison and an 18-million-ruble fine ($316,200). Later, the Supreme Court of Russia mitigated the sentence decreasing the fine to 14.2 million rubles.
