MOSCOW, August 21 (RAPSI) – A prosecutor has asked the Vakhitovsky District Court in Kazan, Tatarstan, to sentence the leader of the Tatarian Patriotic Front “Golden Horde” Danis Safargali to 5 years in prison for extremism, his attorney Irina Khrunova told RAPSI on Monday.

Safargali pleaded not guilty. His lawyers Khrunova and Irina Gontsova asked the court to acquit the defendant.

According to investigators, from March 2015 to March 2016, the man published on his VKontakte page 15 posts containing his opinion about Russian people, Russian Orthodox Church, President, particularly, in the context of situation in Crimea.

Safargali was charged with inciting hatred and enmity  on ethnic grounds.
