The Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to disqualify Chicherova in October 2016. It is noted that in 2015 IOC initiated probe into the athlete’s samples obtained during 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Re-analysis of the ones from 2008 showed positive test for the prohibited substance turinabol.
Chicherova is an Olympic champion of the 2012 Olympic Games and owner of a golden medal of the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.
In August, the court disqualified Russian triple-jumper Anna Pyatykh for four years after she had been found responsible for violation of anti-doping regulations.
