MOSCOW, October 19 (RAPSI, Yelizaveta Ponomareva) – Investigators have demanded to place Deputy chief of the Federal Penitentiary Service’s (FSIN) financial and economic directorate Svetlana Alekseyeva charged with aiding and abetting embezzlement in detention, the spokesperson of Moscow’s Basmanny District Court Yunona Tsareva told RAPSI on Thursday.
Alekseyeva was arrested on October 18 as part of a 160-million-ruble embezzlement case involving FSIN Deputy Chief Oleg Korshunov.
Korshunov earlier was put in detention until November 13. He pleaded not guilty.
Investigators claim that the accused organized conclusion of two government contracts on delivery of fuels and lubricants and food products at an overvalued price between 2015 and 2016. Actions of Korshunov and his accomplices allegedly caused a 160-million-ruble damage (about $3 million) to the FSIN.
Korshunov was appointed to the post of FSIN deputy head in March 2014. He has been bestowed the rank of Full State Counsellor 2nd Class of the Russian Federation.
