MOSCOW, October 25 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan has sentenced former police officer Magomed Magomedov to 13 years in prison for aiding and abetting militants, the court’s press service reports on Wednesday.

Magomedov was involved in the murder of a law enforcement officer, the statement reads.

The court found that Magomedov, acting as a police investigator in the rank of senior lieutenant, had information on militant activity and plotting the murder of the regional Interior Ministry’s officer Shevket Kudzhayev, but failed to take necessary steps to prevent the crime. Moreover, he gave the criminals details concerning the movement of the victim’s car. Therefore, he assisted militants in the murder.

Kudzhayev was shot dead near his house in August 2010, according to the court’s press service.
