MOSCOW, October 31 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Tagansky District Court on Tuesday ordered the detention of ex-head of Ukraine’s largest oil and gas corporation Naftogaz Igor Bakay as part of a large-scale embezzlement case, the court’s spokesperson Yulia Sukhinina told RAPSI.
The businessman was put in jail until November 12, the court’s representative said.
Reportedly, Bakay, who held the position of Naftogaz chairman from 1998 to 2000, embezzled money belonging to other persons including Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov.
Bakay could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
