MOSCOW, January 24 (RAPSI) - Computer examination did not find evidence that the Moscow Finance and Law University’s ex-teacher of mathematics Dmitry Bogatov had called for terrorism and extremism, his lawyer Sarkis Darbinyan told RAPSI on Wednesday.
Experts examined Bogatov’s electronic devices and did not find any illegal materials there, as well as they did not find evidence of his involvement in the crimes charged, the attorney said.
Bogatov is charged with public calls for carrying out terrorist activity with the use of the Internet and organization of mass riots. The Presnensky District Court of Moscow initially put the mathematician in detention. Later, the defendant was placed under house arrest on the request of investigators.
Investigators believe that on March 29, 2017, a person hiding identity behind a pseudonym published texts calling for radically extremist actions. Law enforcement agencies involved in the case say it was Bogatov, who published calls for mass riots using special computer programs.
