MOSCOW, February 19 (RAPSI) – Ukraine has filed a memorandum on violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the part of Russia with the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, a statement published on the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s website on Monday reads.
According to the memorandum, Russia has breached Ukraine’s sovereign rights in the Black Sea, the Azov Sea, and the Kerch Strait.
Ukraine filed an application with the Permanent Court of Arbitration claiming that Russia had violated the UN maritime convention in September 2016. Kiev accused Russia of infringing its right to use areas of water and continental shelf in maritime zones adjacent to Crimea.
