MOSCOW, March 29 (RAPSI) – Russia’s government has approved a bill on video interrogation of witnesses, the Cabinet’s statement reads.
The draft law stipulates the procedure and particularities of interrogation of witnesses in criminal cases through video link. Amendments are proposed to the Criminal Procedure Code.
The government has conceptually backed the use of video conference for interview in order to create necessary conditions for delivery of justice and its availability, according to the statement.
However, the Cabinet of Ministers had some remarks to the bill. In particular, the government noted that the bill limited the use of video conference interrogation for other parties to criminal proceedings including victims, experts, specialists, suspected and accused persons.
