MOSCOW, April 2 (RAPSI) – The Chelyabinsk Regional Court will hear a case against an alleged curator of the infamous social network group Blue Whale Ilya Sidorov charged with incitement to suicide, the court’s spokesperson Yevgeniya Natsiyevskaya told RAPSI on Monday.

The court overturned a lower court’s ruling to return the case to prosecutors.

On May 17, 2017, a girl of 14 was taken to a hospital following a suicide attempt. According to investigators, she attempted to commit suicide after murder threats she received from an unknown man through the Internet. Investigators identified the man as Sidorov, 26. He entered into correspondence with the teenage girl and instructed her to commit suicide. When the girl refused, he began threatening her with murder.

Sidorov has been charged with incitement to suicide and extortion.
