MOSCOW, April 19 (RAPSI) – The Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow on Thursday detained Sergey Khachaturov, the former vice president of one of the largest insurance companies in Russia Rosgosstrakh (RGS Group), until June 16, the court’s spokesperson Yekaterina Krasnova told RAPSI.
The businessman is suspected of large scale embezzlement.
According to media reports, Khachaturov is involved in a criminal case related to the deals of RGS Assets made before the change of ownership in the company. Prior to 2017, RGS Group was owned by the suspect’s brother Danil Khachturov, and subsequently it came under the control of Otkritie bank. Reportedly, Rosgosstrakh damages for that year reached over 55 billion rubles ($903.3 million).
