ST. PETERSBURG, April 23 (RAPSI) – Citizens of Tajikistan, who tried to fly from St. Petersburg to a camp of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization, prohibited in Russia have been detained, the Unified press-service of St. Petersburg courts has told RAPSI.
According to investigators, in late 2017, Kamoliddin Azimjanov and Marufjon Isakov were looking for ways to get to Syria to participate in combat on the side of one of terrorist organizations. Investigators believe that in March they contacted via Telegram messenger a mediator of the international terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra, who promised them a safe passage to Syria.
On April 10, the alleged conspirators bought tickets to leave Russia by plane but were arrested by law enforcement officers.
