MOSCOW, May 31 (RAPSI) – A criminal case against a judge emeritus charged with mediation in bribery has been sent to the Rostov Regional Court for hearing, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports Thursday.
According to prosecutors, the former peace justice has mediated in bribery using official position. The defendant could face up to 7 years in prison if convicted.
Investigators claim that the defendant received 100,000 rubles ($1,600) for funneling the money to an investigation branch chief of the Novoshakhtinsk Department of Russian Interior Ministry in March 2017. The bribe was intended for closing one of criminal cases, the statement reads.
