MOSCOW, June 26 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld liability of taxi aggregators for unsatisfactory rides, the ruling of the court on legal matters concerning contractual obligations on transportation of passengers, luggage and cargo reads.
According to the court, a contractor that agrees to transport passengers, luggage and cargo is liable for all the damage that a client may endure during a ride if the client directly signed a contract with this person or legal entity.
The same rule applies if a client, based on circumstances of the contract such as advertisement, believes that he or she signs contract with this service directly and assumes that drivers are employees of the contractor.
The court noted that the taxi service is responsible for life, health and safety of property belonging to a passenger, whether the transportation was performed by its own vehicle or the one rented alongside the crew.
