MOSCOW, July 2 (RAPSI) – A criminal case against employees of Russia’s Ministry of Defense charged with embezzlement of 70 million rubles ($1.1 million) allocated for determining borders of a continental shelf, will be heard by 224 Garrison District Court on July 3, the United press-service of St. Petersburg courts has told RAPSI.
The defendants in the case are: head of the Ministry’s navigation and oceanography department, first rank captain Sergey Travin; head of the department’s oceanographic directorate Leonid Shalnov, deputy head of the 280 Central Cartography Production bureau Alexey Glazko; head of Prominvest company Boris Savelyev.
According to investigators, in 2014-2015, the alleged criminals deceived employees of the Ministry’s structures and embezzled money allocated through state contract for determining outer borders of Russian continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean.
