MOSCOW, October 4 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has upheld a lower court’s ruling extending detention of the former CEO of the S.A. Lavochkin Scientific Union Sergey Lemeshevsky charged with embezzling 330 million rubles ($5.2 million) until October 19, the press-service of the court has told RAPSI.
The court also extended detention until the same day for another defendant in the case, Chairman of Tretyakov & Partners law firm Igor Tretyakov.
Lemeshevsky was arrested and detained in late July. In early August, the Moscow City Court overturned the ruling and forwarded the matter to a lower court for reconsideration. On August 13, the court reordered detention of Lemeshevsky until September 19.
Three defendants: Lemeshevsky, Tretyakov and chief of the Union’s legal department Yekaterina Averyanova are charged with fraud committed on especially large scale.
According to investigators, three defendants of the case have stolen assets of Roscosmos by signing fraudulent contracts with the law firm. Overall, payments to the firm reached 330 million rubles ($4.9 million) in two years.
