MOSCOW, October 5 (RAPSI) – A court in Chelyabinsk, a city in the Ural Federal District, sentenced a former regional deputy governor Nikolay Sandakov to 5.5 years in prison in a 2-million-ruble ($30,000) bribery case, the court’s press service told RAPSI on Friday.

Additionally, Sandakov was fined 7 million rubles ($105,000).

The court found ex-official guilty of taking bribes and found that Sandakov was also involved in fraud and hacking abetment.

According to the court’s ruling, from 2013 to 2014, the defendant facilitated the conclusion of a government contract on the guardianship of one of the region’s officials on conditions beneficial for the private security firm Python. Sandakov received about 2 million rubles in bribes from the company’s CEO.
