MOSCOW, November 16 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Regional Court has upheld a 4-year suspended sentence given to the former vice-president and ex-chief of security of the Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) Russian subsidiary Vsevolod Glukhovtsev for attempted fraud, lawyer Sergey Kardashev has told RAPSI.
According to the attorney, prosecutors and he are dissatisfied with the ruling. Kardashev is going to appeal it.
Earlier, prosecutors sought 6 years in prison for ex-banker.
Initially Kardashev was a lawyer of victims in another case against Glukhovtsev resulted in a 5-year prison term for the defendant in 2015. The former bank official was found guilty in defrauding investors of more than 300 million rubles (about $4.5 million).
In this case Kardashev has been recognized as an aggrieved party. According to investigators, the former RBS top manager has acted upon a corporate raiding scheme involving the Federal Bailiff Service officers, who had enforced non-existent debts fabricated by Glukhovtsev from victims.
