MOSCOW, November 21 (RAPSI) - Russian ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova once more applied to international bodies this week seeking independent medical examination for Russian journalist Kirill Vyshinsky detained in Ukraine on treason allegations, the human rights commissioner told journalists Wednesday.

According to the Russian ombudsman, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office earlier said that a prosecutor would demand a 12-year prison term for Vyshinsky. It is inadmissible that an opinion on the possible sentence is outspoken when investigation is still ongoing; such behavior should be regarded as putting pressure on investigators, the press service quoted Moskalkova as saying.

Moskalkova calls a criminal case against the journalist and his detention illegal.  She has already repeatedly requested international organizations including UN, Council of Europe and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to speak in defense of the Russian journalist.

President Vladimir Putin previously said that Vyshinsky was arrested and then detained for his professional journalistic activities. That is unprecedented and inadmissible policy of Ukrainian authorities, he stated.
