MOSCOW, January 16 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court on Wednesday upheld a ruling of a lower court extending detention of Crimea’s deputy prime minister Vitaly Nakhlupin involved in a corruption case until March 16, the court’s press service told RAPSI.

Nakhlupin stands charged with receiving bribes on an especially large scale. He pleads not guilty. 

According to the Crimean government’s website, the official was arrested in Moscow on October 17, 2018. The Basmanny District Court of Moscow put him in detention.

Crimean leader Sergey Aksenov wrote on his Facebook page that the investigation concerned other officials as well. According to the republic’s head, investigative actions were conducted in the committee on road industry and competition policy, highway service and in Crimeagasseti and Krymenergo companies.
