MOSCOW, January 18 (RAPSI) – The Arkhangelsk Regional Court will consider a criminal case against a former chief of the Interior Ministry’s regional department on economic security and corruption control, who stands charged with receiving a bribe worth over 3 million rubles (over $45,000), the press service of Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office reports Friday.
According to investigators, the defendant using his job position and with the mediation of his colleagues has received the bribe from an owner of two timber industry firms for supplying information on conducted inspections and revealed violations. Moreover, he has allegedly promised the businessman to finish the check with positive after-effects for the bribegiver.
Alleged accomplices of the defendants will also stand trial on charges of mediation in bribery, the statement reads.
