MOSCOW, February 1 (RAPSI) – The Investigative Committee of Russia on Friday filed a motion with Moscow’s Basmanny District Court seeking to detain one more defendant in a 30-billion-ruble ($455 million) gas embezzlement case, the court’s spokesperson Yunona Tsareva told RAPSI.
Executive Director of the gas supply company Essentukigorgaz Alan Kyatov is suspected of organizing a criminal group and embezzlement.
On Thursday, the court ordered detention until March 30 for the father of senator Rauf Arashukov and CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Raul Arashukov, branch manager of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol Guzer Khashukoyev, CEO of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Astrakhan and Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Astrakhan Ruslan Arashukov, first deputy CEO of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Stavropol Nikolay Romanov and CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol Igor Travinov.
Investigators claim that the top managers have been stealing gas from Gazprom energy giant over a period of several years. In total, they allegedly embezzled natural gas worth 30 billion rubles.
