MOSCOW, April 8 (RAPSI) – A court in Russia’s Republic of Khakassia has sentenced a former deputy executive of the republican government Alexander Golyshev to 6 years and 3 months behind bars for embezzling 94 million rubles ($1.5 million) by executing sham contracts, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reports Monday.

Golyshev’s accomplices, director of Khakresvodokanal state water service company Oleg Baziyev, and director of Sibus company Irina Svistunova have received 5 years and 9 months and 5 years and 3 months in penal colony respectively.

According to case papers, the defendants have conspired to embezzle funds of Khakresvodokanal. It was found that between June 1, 2011 and July 17, 2013, using an outsourcing system they transferred the money paid under sham contracts signed with the water service company to the accounts of Sibus, the firm under their control. They caused damage worth over 94 million rubles ($1.5 million) to the state.
